Accomplishments so far

What else has AMHO accomplished since it was formed by manufactured homeowners desperate for much needed change?
+ AMHO's membership has grown over the years and we now have members in 100 manufactured housing communities across the state.
+ AMHO has provided leadership, support, and on-going mentorship to home owners in 40 communities to help them establish their own Home Owner's Associations (HOAs).
+ AMHO assists home owners to file complaints with the Attorney General's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program whenever their community owners/managers violate the Manufactured/Mobile Home Landlord Tenant Act (RCW 59.20).
+ AMHO board members and volunteers work at the state and local levels to help protect, preserve, and enhance the rights of manufactured home owners residing in land lease communities. Here are some examples of our work:

          * Passage of local "mobile home park" zoning ordinances in the cities of Tumwater, Lynnwood, Marysville, and Snohomish County;
          * On-going efforts to introduce similar ordinances in the cities of Spokane, Federal Way, and Seattle;
          * Policy advocacy to support "Opportunity to Purchase" legislation to help preserve existing manufactured housing communities, and
          * Continuing advocacy to extend the length of notice required before an owner can close or change the use of the manufactured housing community.

+ AMHO co-hosted the National Manufactured Home Owners' Association's (NMHOA) Annual Conventions in 2009 and 2014.
+ In 2013, AMHO adopted a Manufactured Home Owners' Bill of Rights to create one voice and unity in connection to our basic freedoms and rights as manufactured home owners within the state.
+ AMHO also works with other entities, including legal services, energy efficiency proponents, and affordable housing advocates on a range of issues that benefit manufactured home owners.
+ AMHO has received grant funding from a variety of sources, totaling over $200,000, allowing AMHO to hire staff and support systemic change throughout the state--currently focusing on South King County, Ellensburg, and others.

Getting involved

AMHO has been strictly a volunteer organization – until now!  Thanks to the generosity of grant giving organizations we now have funding that allows us to employ professional assistance.  But volunteer assistance is still needed.  Volunteers have three things they can donate: time, talent, and treasury.
  • If you have time to attend a county, or city council meeting to demonstrate your support, please give it!
  • If you have time to distribute fliers in your community, please donate it!
  • If you have time to call your neighbors and ask for their support, donate it!
  • If you have talent as a leader, please donate it to your community and become a member of your Homeowners Association Team, or form one!
  • If you have computer skills, accounting experience, or writing abilities, please donate your talents!
  • Every effort requires treasury.  If you have a couple extra bucks to spare, please donate it or pay a membership fee for a neighbor who may not be able to join AMHO for $15.00 per year.
